An Inspirational Trip to the Royal Windsor Horse Show

Another Monday check in from me. Hope you’ve all had a fab week since we last checked in. This time, I’m going to chat about my trip to The Royal Windsor Horse Show on Friday 11th May. We were there for the evening to watch the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music and I had been looking forward to that evening, ever since we went last year! There is some very special horses there and it’s amazing to see them dancing around the arena, within the beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle.

We went along that evening arriving with an hour spare before the start of the dressage. Of course, to pass the time we did a bit of retail therapy… You’d be quite surprised with how much you can buy in 1 hour! With a few minutes to spare, we grabbed some grub and went to find out seats for the dressage.

I don’t want this post to be a ’round up’ style chat, because actually for me it was far more than just who got which marks and the overall leader board. I enjoyed absolutely every second of every test that evening. There was some super special horses trying their hearts out to give great tests and some goose-bump worthy moments. It was a truly inspirational evening for the dressage, I just cant wait to get on and school my boy now… although preparing for a Prelim doesn’t quite compare, doesn’t mean we can’t pretend though!

By the time the dressage had finished, we had finished our first bottle of prosecco. What could be a better combination; sitting in the Windsor Castle Grounds, Drinking Prosecco and Watching the Dressage? Well, this actually… Pony Club Mounted Games! So following the Dressage performance and lap of honour, into the arena entered the cutest little wizzy ponies, ready and raring to go for the pony club mounted games. It was so entertaining and I think almost everyone in the stands was cheering on at least one, if not all, of the teams. It was honestly sooo much fun, I think the prosecco probably aided in our merriness at this point too.

If you’re feeling a bit nosy and are interested in some of the bits I brought, here’s a  ‘What I Brought at Windsor’ snippet for you:

1. Leather Head Collar, in Full – English Bridles

2. Black Lead Rope – KM Elite

3. Huff Equestrian #HONESTRIDERS ‘Two Hearts’ T-shirt in Melange Grey.

p.s they wrapped this in tissue paper and gave me a canvas bag to take it away in, this is such a thoughtful idea and who doesn’t LOVE a canvas bag…!)

4. Noble Outfitters Peddies, in Horseshoe Print

Did any of you get to The Royal Windsor Horse Show for any of the days over the weekend? I would love to know all about your best bits and whether you left feeling inspired too. Windsor will yet again be busy with the hustle and bustle of visitors this weekend but for quite a different reason!
